Hi everyone. I recently upgraded my OS to tiger 1.4.6 from 1.3.9. after the update my sony handycam miniDV (model DCR-HC20) will not connect to my computer. I was able to connect the camera and it was recognized before the update and now, nothing. ichat, final cut, istopmotion or any other video related software on my computer will not recognize my camcorder. Im connecting the camera to my computer via firewire and running on a PowerBook G4. So whats the deal? If anyone knows a possible solution that would be great! I will post if I learn anything by myself. thanks in advance!

Hello there,
I had the same trouble. I own a Sony Handycam (DCR PC106) using USB 2.0 on an iBook G4 1.33 Ghz. I cant get any capture on my screen. Do I have to use a Firewire cable? or something should be installed?

any help would do. thx!!

acrut- The other day I tried my digital camcorder again and it worked. So whatever problem I was having disapeered. However, I know that you DO need a firewire cable in order for your computer to read the camera. As far as drivers, I believe that tiger should cover your grounds where sony will not. I would suggest buying a firewire cable anyway just for the fact that video data is so large. I hope a firewire cable is your only problem! good luck

Hey, thx for the reply.
Okay, maybe i should get a firewire cable, but actually the package didnt include a firewire cable. It cost 60 Dollars just for the cables in my place. Does it have to be Sony or it could be just any firewire cable?

thxx again!

Thx! i bought a 5 dollar Firewire cable. And it worked! The picture is showin on iMovie and Quicktime Pro.
