Sony DVD Recorder as an external HDD

Hi,
I've just bought a Sony RDR-HX910 DVD Recorder and it has a DV connector to directly input a video camera. I thought I'd try running a Firewire cable to it to see if I could export to the HDD and potentially cut dual layer DVDs.
When it is connected the System Profiler knows it is there and identifies it as HX910. See print out below:

In iMovie it thinks it's a 'camera no tape'. I tried exporting to it but it seemed to lock up and not do anything.

Is there a driver I can load so my Mac can transfer to teh DVD recorder.

Check the manual, and find out how you go about importing digital video into the recorder's DV input. Perhaps you need to do something on the recorder before you export video on that link.
