sound doesnt work on games on my iMac

So i just got a new iMac g5 and i downloaded a trial version of battlefield 1942 and the game runs fine but the speakers dont work in the game..... they work jsut fine in everything else itunes etc.... but in the game they dont work... ive check in the game if maybe i had it on mute or something but i dont

yea i play cnc gen zero hour and it wont play any of the sound effects could anyone tell me why.

I had this same problem when i got my iMac G5, and i thought i just couldn't find the answer and then one day I opened Garage Band, and closed it. Then all my games worked. Try that.
