stalling the user

so in my other post (http://macosx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40625) you can see i am trying to load a relatively large web page. the problem is that ie and mozilla (target browsers) both pop up these message boxes saying that a script is slowing down mozilla/ie and it asks if i want to cancel it. i have a new strategy i'd like to explore, but i need help.

basically, i want to display an animation while it loads, and then upon load, show the page. how can i do this? help?!?

You mean besides designing the site in Flash? Hmm, let me see...

Will this work? Can you adapt it to your needs? Basically, you need to store everything to be written in memory and write it out once it's finished loading.
