Start-up

I have a 4 year old Powermac G4
It's been great.
I'm not doing any advanced computing, just simple searches and word documents.

It will no longer start up, when I push the start up button on the front.
Nothing happens.

So, I have to unplug the power cord
open the computer
push the PMU Reset button
close the cover
plug in the power cord
then, it starts up OK and works fine

This is a pain.
Any ideas what's wrong?
What can I do myself, short of taking it in for repair?

Thanks a lot!

Yup, exactly what SGilbert mentioned. Suonds like you have a dead PRAM battery. The one you need is a half-AA battery. Just take the dead battery to Radio Shack (or a similar store) and tell them you need that type. Make sure you remember how the battery was seated before removing it. Putting the battery back on with the wrong polarity can fry your logic board.
