Startup Disk

The Late: SuperMacMod
Had problems with kernel panic. Repaired with DiskWarrior. After that, installed Nortons Anitvirus, rebooted, another kernel panic screen. Wiped the partition and installed OS X and all the updates. Now it works fine, but the startup disk preference won't show any of my 9.x partitions to choose from to boot to. Have to put a 9.x CD in to boot from that then slect a 9.x partition to boot from.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

have you tried to "bless" the system folder? Move the Finder icon out of it and then back onto the closed system folder. There's also a Unix utility "bless" that you can run from the command line in the Terminal; try "man bless" and see if that makes sense to you.

Tried moving the Finder out, didn't make a difference. I can boot into any 9.x system, I have three, with no problem, just not from OS X.

when i want to startup from os 9, as I am somewhat making X my startup partition as time goes on.... i hold down the 'alt' key while my mac is restarting or turning on. what this will do is before anything begins to load, a screen comes up with any recognized system folder which you can choose from and continue to start up from. if you are on a preloaded OS X system, I hear that you can start up from OS X while holding down the 'x' key during startup, but I am not certain. why three os 9's?!?

It's the Option key you hold down, but on my machine it just hangs on that screen. Have three OS 9's, three different hard drives.
