Strange Publishing Issue With iWeb 1.1.2

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on this forum so please be kind! I'm hoping someone may be able to give me some advice with an issue I am having. I created my website with iWeb 1.1.2 & have had absolutely no issues with it from running Tiger right through to Snow Leopard (10.6.2) which I am running at present. However, in the past couple of days, I have noticed a few strange issues with a few of the images...they appear to be slightly out of focus...not only on photographs but also on parts of my website whereby I have added text & these are then saved as PNG files. I haven't changed any preferences whatsoever & everything appears as it should within iWeb itself...the issue is only occuring once I have published to a folder. I've emptied the Cache in my Browser but the issue is still there.

I've added a link below to an image which shows the problem I am having. The top & bottom appear as it should however the centre appears very soft. It doesn't appear like this within iWeb, only once I publish the files.

Would it be worth deleting the preference file for iWeb, & then relaunching the application?

Any help would be greatly received. Many thanks.

I don't see the problem you describe on that image link you gave. Can you give us the actual web site url? We then can see if the site is just acting up on your machine or if it is wide spread to all who view it.

The problem might be the site you are publishing on and not iWeb.

Hi Cheryl,

Many thanks for your reply. I have uploaded another image which you can access via the link below. The version on the right is how it should look & has been like this up until a few days ago. The version on the left shows the error.

It is also happening with images so I know it's not a text to image conversion error.

This version of my site isn't live at the moment...I wanted to get it corrected before I upload this version. The version of my site that is live (http://www.benrector.com) has a slightly different layout for this particular page.

At the moment, I am only viewing the files which I have saved to a folder on my desktop. I am using Safari 4.0.5. I have also tried transferring the files to my MacBook Pro but the error shows up there also...whilst viewing in the same version of Safari.

When I spoke with someone in my local Apple Store this week, he agreed that the problem is during the "Publish To A Folder" process as it views with no problem in iWeb itself.

Like I say, I haven't changed anything recently so it seems strange that it has all of a sudden occurred.

Many thanks

Any reason why you are using an older version of iWeb?

Try trashing the plist file of iWeb, trash the published files then try it again and see what
you get.

Hi Cheryl,

I've just deleted the com.apple.iWeb.plist file, emptied the cache in Safari & quit & then re-saved the files but the issue is still there.

I have actually bought iLife 09 & I do intend to upgrade...I just got so use to version 1.1.2. My plan was gonna be to upload an updated version of my site & then concentrate on upgrading to 3.0.1

It's just really frustrating that after a few years of using this version, it's decided to publish with a few glitches. Do you think it would be worth re-installing the application?

Many thanks

Ben

Did you clear the history in Safari? The history still saves your previous pages.

Rather than re-install the old version, I suggest installing the new version, then work on your new design.

Hi Cheryl,

I have cleared the History in Safari. I've also tried deleting the iweb cache file but with no success.

I am planning to upgrade very soon however I am considering re-installing this version for now.

Many thanks for your help Cheryl...I tried deleting the plist file, the cache file & I also reinstalled iWeb 1.1.2 but with no joy. I then transferred my Domain file to my MacBook Pro which has iLife 09 installed & once the file has been upgraded within iWeb, everything has been corrected. My upgrade to iLife 09 is sooner than I had planned but glad my problem has been solved.

Thanks again.
