Strange safari problem...

I've searched around and can't find anything that really relates to my problem(s) here...

One night I connected up to the net and opened up Safari (by far my favorite web browser). I typed in my favorite website (macosx.com) and noticed that it took a REALLY long time to load. Much longer than usual! Then, after it loaded the page Safari crashed. I tried it all again, this time with a different website... exact same results. And again, and again. Has anybody ever had a problem with this?

I tried resetting safari and the cache, but no change. I'm running OS 10.3.8 and the original Safari version that comes with it. I don't have any virus software and I really have no clue what to do about this.

Anybody have any ideas I could try out?

Using Software Update, try updating to 10.3.9. There's an update for Safari available for it.

Prior to updating an application with existing problems, like crashing - it is best to resolve the problems first.

Try this - open (run, launch) 'Disk Utility' (in the '/Applications/Utilities/' folder), and click on the Mac's hard disk drive, click on 'First Aid' tab, and then click on 'Repair Disk Permissions' button (performing the 'Repair Disk Permissions' at least twice). Open (run, launch) 'Safari' - any success? If not, continue ...

... boot your mac from your 'Panther Install' disc, and select the 'Installer, Open Disk Utility...' menu item. After 'Disk Utility' launches, click on your Mac's hard drive's icon (in the left side list), click on 'First Aid' tab, then click on the 'Repair Disk' button (perform this action again, after the operation). Next click on the 'Repair Disk Permissions' button (again - perform this action again, after the operation). Reboot the Mac to your Mac's hard disk drive, open (run, launch) 'Safari' - any success?
