Strangers On My Local Network?

I decided to use the Go/Connect To Server command from the Finder on a hunch. I clicked on Local Network for the fun of it. I'm not connected to anything but the Internet via my cable modem. But it lists two people I don't know on my local network. I attempted to connect, failing. I tried using their IPs to Telnet, and I looked to see if they might be running web servers. Nothing. What are they doing there? How can I get rid of them? I certainly don't want my security compromised.
 
i had a similar expernce where smb ips were displayed on my local network, scared me, i though i had a wintel hacker.. i dont know what they were but it was scarry, anybody know what it could be?
 
Back when I had no router of my own and my broadband connected directly to my Mac (OS 9) I could see 20 LaserJet's and a few Mac's directly in the Chooser. Probably a misconfiguration in my ISP's router.
 
Just on a whim, I ran a port scan on my computer. Ports open are 4000, which I run my web server on, the one for MySQL, and port 1033. Does anyone know what 1033 is used for? By the way, the connected servers are afp, not smb. Gasp. There's yet another one now! It wasn't there the other night... So there are three strangers listed. Hmm... What's going on?
