Streaming to onboard speakers and Airtunes at the same time

Hi there,

I was wondering if there' s a way to stream music using iTunes through the iBook's onboard speakers and remote speakers (using an Airport Express device) at the same time. I'm trying to listen to my music using this in my home stereo (connected through Airtunes) and in my iBook (that uses external speakers attached using the headphone socket).

Has anybody achieved this? Is it possible?

No, this is not possible. Even if it were, the sound would be out-of-sync between the onboard and the Airport Express, because in order to send sound to the AE your Mac has to compress it (using Apple Lossless Compression) and stream it to the AE, where it is then decompressed and bufferred.
It is impossible to predict how the streaming, buffering and encoding will affect the delay-time on the sound. For this reason, iTunes only uses one audio output at a time.
