subscribe to forum ?

I am wondering exactly what Subscribe to forum actually does. I have subscribed to several and I thought that I would get an email when a new thread has been posted.

Touble is I don't. What gives?

You need to set email alerts in your user cp. It's under, Edit Options. You can also see the forums you subscribe to at your main user cp screen.

Email alerts is checked. I only get the alerts if I post to a thread and there is an answer.

I do not get alerts when a new thread has been posted, which is what subscribing to forums is suppose to do. Or am I mistaken?
 
When you subscribe to a forum, it is my understanding that you get email alerts when a new thread has been posted.

My user cp is set to get email alerts. I have subscribed to several forums.

I still do NOT get notified when a new thread has been posted.

Is this a glitch in the system or am I the only one with this problem?
