Substituted characters in filenames

I've put my Macs (all running OS X) and PCs onto a larger network, and now the Macs won't see certain characters in filenames on a PC with Windows 2000 server that they could see before moving to the larger network.

Changes as far as my old setup goes are:
Moved from 192.168.1.xxx using a hardware firewall router as the DHCP server to 192.168.7.xxx using an NT4 PC as the DHCP server.

Your problem has nothing to do with the IP-addresses of your router and server and everything to do with the OS of your server and the protocols used to access your files.
