Tab Browsing

Im running 10.3.8 on my G4 powerbook at the moment, and my collegue is running the same on his G5 powermac. in safari, he is able to use tab browsing, (holding the apple key and clicking on a link, to open a new 'tab window')
mine however doesn't seem to want to do this!!
any ideas??

Do you have Tabs enabled in Safari preferences?

if no, you can enable it in preferences, tabs, and toggle enable tab browsing
