Take a ride down memory lane

Does anybody want some free software? (Keep in mind that these are ALL Classic apps, and some should go right to the trash, so this might be an exercise in futility… I just hate throwing away something somebody else might use) :)

These first 5 disks are from "10 Tons of Fun"
1) A-10 Cuba! / Absolute Solitaire / Alley 19 Bowling / Bonkheads / Pro Pinball-The Web / Starlight Casino
2) Souls in the System
3) Myth
4) Virtual Pool
5) Descent II
6) MacHome CD - December 1999
7) Mácformat - MF81 September 1999
8) Smithsonian's America (1994)
9) Grolier Mutlimedia Encyclopedia 1995
10) Kai's Photo Soap SE (1997)
11) Aztech's More MacCube (1996) 7 Disks
12) The Oregon Trail 1.2
13) EA 3D Atlas 1.1 (1994)
14) The Family Doctor 3rd Edition (1994)
15) The Musical World of Professor Piccolo 1.3
16) Solitaire Antics Deluxe (1999)
17) Adobe ImageReady 1.0
18) Aladdin DragStrip
19) Bugdom
20) MDK
21) Now Up•to•Date & Contact 3.6.5
22) Conflict Catcher 8

Anybody? Anybody? I guess if somebody actually wants one of these, I can ship it to you (you pay), or create a disk image and (if applicable) email you that and the serial number.

Hey, I love old apps! Why don't you bring them (along with yourself) to the mini'app'les Consultants SIG next month (it is on the third Thursday), and I'll buy you breakfast (it's a breakfast thing).

I'm not sure but mightn't you need that Adobe Image Ready disk and number if you ever have to upgrade? I can't remember if that bit of software was just an add on to Photoshop or a rreal program (my dad used it a lot when I lived at home). Adobe can be a b**ch about needing everydisk you ever had if you ever want to upgrade.

I believe after ImageReady 2.0 there was no longer an upgrade path because it was part of PhotoShop. But if you are wondering, the PS codes for version 3.0 activate versions 6.0 (both PS and IR). The only difference between PS upgrade for 6 and the full version is the code (or lack there of).

With Acrobat, moving from 4 to 5 required that you keep 4 on your system while installing 5 so that it could read the license.

MDLarson: While I don't have the need for any of that software, I do have one request (since you have Descent II).

My copy of the disk seems to have corrupted copies of Tracks 12, 13, and 15 of the Descent II game music. If you don't mind, could you rip them from the CD, convert them to MP3s, and send them to simX@mac.com ?

I would be very grateful if you could do that, as these tracks sound very good (I can hear the start of them, but it gets pure static half way through). :)

SimX: Sure, I'll see what I can do.
RacerX: Tell me more about this conference thingy; is it a MUG? I doubt I'd be able to take a Thursday morning off, but sounds interesting.

Actually, now that I look at the list, do you think I could snatch Bugdom and Bonkheads before RacerX gets them? :)

Anyone remember playing around the world in EA 3D Atlas? *reminisces happily*

Cheers.

Yeah, we meet at the Embers off Wayzata at 7:00 am (that is the only part I hate about, can't sleep in on that day). I started going about a year and a half ago, before I started my own business to see how others had gone about it.

Hey, and simX, the Bugdom was going to be for my wife (ours is the OEM version and won't play in classic). Did they ever make a Carbon version?

RacerX: Damn, oh well. Lemme get Bonkheads at least, though. :D I should note that Bugdom was recently rereleased as shareware, and I'm not sure if you can upgrade the non-shareware version to the latest shareware version. Just so you know (it should run in Classic, though).

Bugdom was never carbonized, though.

Actually… You know how girls are with computer games? They typically just shake their heads when you spend all Saturday entrenched in StarCraft…

Anyway, I was totally suprised when she wanted to play me in Doom or whatever game I was playing earlier (Unreal)!!! I showed her a little bit of that game, she was amused, but didn't care to play it anymore. Then she got into MacBrickout (she rocks at it!), and I showed her Bugdom and Bonkheads, and she liked 'em. So… I'll probably have to keep them to stay honest.

Sorry! :(

MDLarson: Ah, well. I took a shot at it. :)

BTW, I got Tracks 12 & 13, but then my Mac.com e-mail box told me it was full so I'm pretty sure Track 15 got rejected. I've deleted Tracks 12 & 13 from my mailbox (but I have them now), so could you send me Track 15? :D

No, it's just that he requested it via email. What, you think I'll post it for everybody to download? "Don't steal music." ;)

BTW, I'll resend track 15. Curious, I didn't get an email back saying your mailbox was full.

I emailed the makers of Bugdom and the dude said there will not be an OS X version of Bugdom ever, but Bugdom 2 WILL be.

Anyway, I still do have the pile of old software, all in jewel cases, and I'm still more than willing to give them all away! RacerX, if you really want the whole pile, we should work out a definite time and place. Private message me about it.

Well, the drop was made at an undisclosed place at an undisclosed time.

I have no more free software to give away! So you can all stop PMing me already! (just kidding) (about everybody PMing me) (nevermind…)
