Testing Inverter Board b4 installing

Hi,

Is there a way of testing an inverter board before installing it? The one on my old ibook has given up and i have dead ibook i use for parts. But i dont know what the inverter is like and installing it is a big job especially if i find out its duff also.

Is there anyway?

Some techs have made testers out of ccfl tubes removed from displays. But this obviously requires destroying a possibly good display and knowledge of soldering to make one of these. If all things are equal between the junk ibook and the good one, then just swap the whole display assembly over from the dead one in case it turns out to be the LCD back light being dead. Also if you are swapping an inverter out of a different configuration ibook, there is a good chance that inverter won't work anyway.

The junk ibook is a G3 and this one a G4 also the G3 has a crack screen so it wa likely the inverter was damaged also but all a i had to loose was an hour of my life so i went and put it in and my G4 is back again. Don't how long for but im writing this thread reply on it :-0

I know i should move on but i love this machine!
