The $276 question, 15 or 17?

Before when I have asked, 15" or 17" in a thread before... the factor of about $600 played into the figure. Was it worth $600 for a bigger screen and then add onto the the fact it would be heavier, less convient and all that jazz, going the 17" route seemed a little silly.

With corporate pricing of the new PB's released today, there is a $460 gap on stock models between 15 and 17. Still a large gap. But, when you configure both models with 1GB of RAM and a 100GB 7200 drive... the margin drops to only a $276 price difference. The difference comes from the fact that you have to pay to upgrade to the 100GB 7200 HD on the 15", but you can swap the 120GB 5400 for the 7200 100GB with no price difference.

So... now I ask the question again... 15" or 17"... the $276 question.

Good question. I'm actually thinking of getting one of these new Powerbooks too, now that the prices are better.

I'm really not sure. Personally I'm going for the 15, because I think the 15 is a better size for portability, then again the 17 would be nice too.

I guess you really have to ask yourself what you want to use it for. If you need the resolution, then go for the 17, otherwise the 15 has the same specs, so go for that.
