Yeah 48hrs of non-stop simpsons this w/e in NZ :)
if only i could see the tv from the computer

I've heard that The Simpsons is a huge hit in many other countries, particularly England. NZ too, I guess?

I think it's partly because it mercilessly makes fun of American society - and occasionally other countries' too.

Simpsons is also huge in Ireland, although I think the standard has been slipping for a year at least. Maybe they are running out of ideas and resort to these Simpsons go to (insert country here) episodes? Only a matter of time before they get to Ireland, they have already done St. Patrick's day (one of best episodes ever!)

I've gotten the impression sometimes that even the people who work on the show are wondering if it isn't time to "stick a fork in it". I still enjoy it, and some of the recent ones have been really good. But not long ago there was an episiode when the 'sofa gag' had all the Simpsons literally "jumping the shark". A subtle message for those in the know.

(If you don't know what I mean by 'jumping the shark', visit:

Such a brief post, such a patently confrontational and provocative sentiment, with no apparent thought behind it. You're veering close to troll territory.

The Simpson's are real popular in america too - I had seen every single simpsons episode at one point. But I've almost stopped watching tv now - I kind of miss those guys.

When do you think Simpsons reached it's peak? None of the new episodes have the same bite as the old ones. There was even one episode where Homer screamed his way through the plot. It wasn't funny and was actually a bit irritating. Someone told me that there are only a couple of the original writers left on the staff and it shows. The last episodes that were genuinely funny were the beer baron and garbage commissioner shows, other than that it has definitely lost the edge it had.

ive seen simpsons everywhere ive lived. and in many languages .. i love them. the most realistic american tv family ;) :D

There have been so many episodes, it's actually kind of hard for me to think of them chronologically. It's rare that an episode goes by without at least one or two lines that make me laugh out loud. I don't know if this episode has aired overseas yet, but around Christmas there was an excellent new holiday Simpsons, with brief parodies of many different various children's Christmas programs. There were even two brief stop-motion animated sequences, parodying the Rankin-Bass 'Rudolph' shows.

One of my favorite bits of Simpsons dialog was from many seasons back. (Incidentally sysops: this dialog was broadcast on American TV, often regarded as extremely prudish language-wise, so I'm assuming I'm not breaking any rules posting it here.)

BART: Homer, I gotta say, your half-assed over-parenting is even worse than your half-assed under-parenting was!
HOMER: But I'm using my whole ass!

Simpson's is probably the greatest show, there's something for everyone. There's cute, lovable, stupid, homer - who is always a laugh. There's Marge, that seems to run the family, a typical mom :p.
Then there's the 2 kids, that have kid problems, that all kids can relate to.

I hope that the show stays on for a while :)

Yeah, Maggie's probably the most realistic, being a baby who shoots her dad's boss and all...
