Themes

I see you point that themes were *technically* supported, but Apple never developed on it. We had to depend on 3rd Party developers such as Kaleidoscope and such. It's been 14 months since MacOS X has been released and I haven't heard of any Theme extensions or MODS yet for MacOS X. Is there a theme yet for making MacOS X look like MacOS Classic or WindowsXP?

The Aqua interface is a whole different discussion... :)

You accidentally made this a new thread, but that's okay I guess... Long time no new themes thread. YES there are themes for Mac OS X, making it look like Classic Mac OS or Win XP (uargh!). Start with Duality 3, get it from Versiontracker. -> http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx

Sorry about that, I click the wrong icon. I was totally unaware that MacOS X has a 3rd party theme support. Is there really a WinXP theme? That would be interesting to see?

Thanks for your help and it's a shame that Apple are not more forward with announcing this sort of material like XSounds and WindowsShade, which are a God send of Shareware.

Thanks again and I will take alook at Duality 3.0.1

:D

That Apple doesn't go forward and push those utilities is an image decision. They want to control how a Mac works and looks like. That was also the reason why theme support never came out as what it was meant to be. Even Rhapsody was more flexible than Mac OS X: You could change the colors of all interface elements very, very freely. RacerX might be able to show the appearance control panels of this ancestor of Mac OS X.

I have the Win XP theme(originally a prank on my dad) and if you look away from the fact that it's ugly, it's pretty amazingly done.

Hehe. :)

That's a bit like saying that you've got a very special girlfriend, and that while she may be pretty ugly she looks very ... hmm ... interesting.

Uninstall that theme, already. :) Get back Aqua, I say.

fryke, what I said was that I was impressed with the work put into this theme, the resized buttons and such. I never liked the theme, never will(hopefully, I'll keep my taste intact)

I play around some times, but I can't stand having my Mac look like that for more than an hour...

Aqua's on, don't worry

Dear All,

Thanks to all the Mac users that help me out here with regards to Themes on MacOS X. I have install Duality and WinXP theme and it works great. I know, I know, 'WinXP'? But in my opinion it's better that Aqua.

My colleague actually thought that I was running WindowsXP on my Mac! I had to put him straight.

Shame about the icons. Is any one working on this or is it impossible for some reason?

Thanks again

:D

Good Grief!

Just paid a visit to resexcellence.com. Most of those things are terrifying! My eyes, my eyes!! A palette-heavy programme running in those? Aqua for me.

And I think they'd terrify my system files, too.

I did like the System 7 theme on page 4, though (hee-hee).

Why is there a displaced cockneygeezer in Norwich? You don't have to answer that.
