Thinking of moving from XP to a Mac OS

im after a bit of advice just wondered if you can help? basicaly next year im planning to upgrade my computer internals basicaly a 64 bit type what ever that is my brother has been helping me we got the processor new mother board etc, i just have to replace my hard drive and get a new Oporating system. this is the bit i need you advice about? currently im using windows that was pre installed on my pc so in order to get the computer working i have to purchase a new OS as mine is linked to the motherboard apparently! now i've seen the mac computers and liked the look and the OS are supposed to be better? so i was thinking if i have to have a new OS then why not a mac OS such as the tiger or lepord one thats supposed to be coming out as thats 64bit or something like that! i dont know very much about it tbh! also an office based software. what i was going to do was to slave my current hard drive so i would be able to access the files i currently have such as word etc also helps with the extra storage and have a new larger hard drive with the new OS as priority drive. question is wood this all work? or will i have a conflict with the windows software on the old hard drive? and how much better is mac over windows? also i quite fancy getting a mac g4 or g5 case but cant find them for sale anyware, do you know where i could get one and what sort of prices am i looking at?

sorry for all the questions i dont know very much at all about mac software i need help! =:-@

If I understand you correctly you are looking to build a system rather than buy one off the shelf, apologies if I have misunderstood. If this is the case you will not be able to install OSX as it is only licenced for Apple built hardware.

I would wait until the end of January when Vista becomes available and go for that ( I am waiting to be shot down for that comment). If you really want to use OSX spend the money your were going to on the various components and buy yourself a Mac. Again I would wait for a bit as 10.5 will be out early in the new year.
 
to clarify, you can't install mac os on anything but macs. to use Mac OS, you have to buy a mac. no way around it, i'm afraid. half of the reason mac os is so good is because the hardware is tied to the software and vice versa, it allows far greater compatibility.
 
Get a mac. Then get bootcamp or parallels which let you run Windows. Then install your XP on that mac. Now you have two operating systems!
