TiBook Display loses backlight/dimming problem

My TiBook's display doesn't seem able to keep its backlight up. When I start it up, or when i wake it up from sleep, it looks just fine, but after a few seconds of operation, the backlight goes out, and the screen dims down to the point where you can just barely make out whatever is on the screen.

Has anyone seen this problem before? I just recently replaced a broken hinge on this TiBook a few days ago, and it seemed to be working just fine. Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Its a 500Mhz TiBook running 10.4.
 
It sounds like the video & power cable that runs through the hinge is either loose or damaged; a fairly common problem on any laptop, especially when the hinge has been damaged. It shouldn't be too hard for a technician to fix.
