I have been having an issue with booting. I am getting the Apple Icon with the Ding and then the rotating gear.
Recently I reinstalled the operating system b/c all other repair option failed (from previous issue), including the Repair Option in Disk Utilities.
The Mac was running good after the reinstall. I shut down one night and upon booting up the next day it took 5-8 minutes to get the the desktop. I was able to use some applications for the day and decided to do a "Disk Repair" that night.
I repaired the "Permissions" and the "Disk".
I had to try twice to repair the disk.
Now when I boot I get the dong / Apple Icon / Rotating gear / Blue screen / rotating gear / blue screen with operating mouse.
Can anyone shed dome light on this please..
