Hi,
I have a powerbook G4 running 10.3
I tried to upgrade to 10.4 but, the installation fails due to a damaged volume. I use the disk utility and do a verify which fails, then I do a verify permissions with sites all kinds of wrong permissions. So I do a repair permissions which "fixes" most of them but, I think some are still "damaged" (some man file permissions, etc). Trying to install after the repair still fails.
So I rebooted and did disk verify under the running OS which comes up with all kinds of error messages. I do a repair permissions which, I believe, un-does all the permission modifications that the Tiger install tried to do.
Has anyone run into this. I really don't want to do fresh install. Any alternatives. Force upgrade script?
Thanks,
