Time Capsule just for backups??

I read the following paragraph on engadget and was slightly concerned:

So we spent the weekend playing with Time Capsule and we've discovered some interesting answers to all your questions, as well as a few accompanying annoyances. Our main takeaway? It's a solid product, but you shouldn't expect it to do anything more than back up your files -- and Apple really needs to step up and enable general NAS support for Time Machine. Read on!

Can someone briefly explain what NAS is?

Also, this can only be used for backups? I was planning to use it as my MAIN DRIVE! Is there a problem with that? I was gonna keep all my music, photos, movies, etc. in there.

Please do advise if you are familiar with the situation!

All help is appreciated!!

Thanks,

I have been curious to non-Time Machine uses as well.. and here is what I gather from digging through folks with hands-on experience with it.

You can access it like it is being shared by another Mac, the drive that is. You can create folders, setup user accounts on Time Capsule and control read/write permissions.

In addition, you can ADD additional drives via the USB interface.

You can use this to store all your music and photos on, but realize that you still need to back up the content of the drive to another drive for backup purposes, and I would assume it could also be a drive connected to the Time Capsule, but you'd need to use some type of duplicate program to duplicate those files for you on a regular basis.
