Time Machine and lost e-mail messages

Brief overview of recent events.

Day 1. The bad news: Hard drive in mac dies!

Day 2. The good news: Apple technician replaces hard drive and I restore all my files using Time Machine.

Day 3. Bad news again: Apple mail fails to display all past (incoming/Outgoing) mail from POP account. MobileMe and G-mail seem fine.

Time Machine started a fresh back-up but for the moment I’ve turned it off until I get straight.

I found a folder on the external hard drive that Time Machine backs up to, it’s title shows date/time just prior hard drive failure. I wondered if I could pluck a file from that back-up to restore all my POP mail messages.

I don’t want to make matters worse – can anyone steer me toward clear instructions that I could follow to get my messages back.

Mail itself is working fine sending/receiving.

I would be very grateful for any help.

Check the folders on your time-machine under Library | Mail | *

Under mailboxes you will find all your locally stored mails. And you will also file in the same level the POP directories/files.

Hope this helps you!
