Hi .
My name is Peter I wonder if anyone can tell me if the Time Mashine Backup program would work on my Mac G5 Dual 1.8 3.Gb ram 2x 230 Gb seagate HD
Currently I am running OS 10,3.9 I am aware that the program Time mashine is an itegral part of Leoppard
This takes me to the next question would leopard run on my Mac
I have been reading earlier it is not really performing on this model of Mac
My Mac in not an Intel platform
Any help please
Thank you
Peter

As long as you can run 10.5 on a mac, it will run Time Machine. If you install the system onto one drive then you will be able to back up to the other one if you want. If you don't want to, then you can use an external drive.

I believe you will be able to run 10.5 on your mac because I have a G5 2.3 GHZ and that runs 10.5 Server and actually serves as a network Time Machine host. While that is tad faster, I don't think it will make much of a difference. Apple also says that, that machine can run 10.5 (plus you have the dual processor version and not the single).

Hello
Many thanks for your quick response
When i order a OS 10.5 .xx do i need to specify the PowerMac version?
I would not like to end up with an Intel version or both the same?
Thanks again

If buy the generic version (black disc with an X on it), it will come with both Intel and PowerPC version on the disc.

You can buy it from the Apple Store online here.

If you decide to buy a used disc from somewhere like ebay. Make sure that you DO NOT buy the computer specific (grey disc) as it will NOT work.
