Tiny Icons on OS X

I just converted my system over to OS X this week and found that all my icons of pictures are now tiny little boxes. If I go to preferences to increase the size of icons the folder icons become HUGE! Does anyone know how to get the picture icons back to a usable normal size?

what kind of pictures? the icon for a file type is controlled by the app that opens it, so this will be different depending on what kind of pictures you are talking about. but in general, that icon is stored in the resourcces ffolder of the app used to open it.
