Is it possible to install Tk for Perl 5.6, and if so, how do you do it? Is it easier to accomplish using Perl 5.8? Does upgrading to 5.8 open you up to problems/conflicts with future OS X upgrades? Thanks.

Tk is not part of Perl, but part of Tcl. Yes it is possible with Fink or by using the Aquafied version Apple offers.(This however is very weak and I have yet been able to get it to work correctly with other languages like Python)

If you install with Fink, you will need to run X11 or Xdarwin to get your apps to work.

No. See above.

Does upgrading to 5.8 open you up to problems/conflicts with future OS X upgrades?

Yes. The short of it is that any future OSX upgrades may wipe out the 5.8 install you installed. (Is that really proper English??) I do not know if Fink can install this. If it can, this install would be safe from any future upgrade because of where Fink places everything. (In /sw)

Hope some of this helps.

Good Luck.
