i just added t-mobile hotspot to my service and was wondering if i could setup a vpn to my home network (linksys router) for secure internet browsing. i know i can setup the vpn to simply access my home network files but wanted to use it as a secure connection before reaching the outside internet (if that makes sense). does anyone know how and if this is possible?

What procotol does the VPN component in your router use? Probably either IPSec or PPTP. What you'll need to find out from t-mobile is if their hotspot networks permit IPSec and/or PPTP pass-through.. if they block that traffic then you're out of luck.

Another way to browse securely would be to set up some kind of SSL relay on a public web server. Then you can simply connect to that server using HTTPS from your laptop and then browse from there..
