Trackpad

My trackpad suddenly does not respond anymore properly to clicking and double clicking and specially to click and drag. I have to click many times and and then if i press quite strong, the response comes. The mouse works perfectly, but as I am often traveling, it is a nuisance to use it on planes etc.
I tried different settings and speeds in software preferences/keyboard&mouse/trackpad.
Also it behaves slightly better but still a bit erratic if I tap the trackpad instead of clicking it.
Does anybody know if there is any utility to reset my trackpad, or any other way or trick to fix it?

[Curiosity]

It might need replacing. I had to have mine replaced after it stopped moving the cursor vertically. Before it stopped responding vertically totally, it was getting harder and harder to get it to respond.
