My wife has an old Performa 6300CD she is about to replace with a new Mac (model TBD). However, I use an IBM ThinkPad and need to transfer some old files from her Performa before she gets rid of it.
Aside from the challenge of translating Mac-formatted files and documents to IBM format, the bigger problem appears to be that the Performa seems to be dying. It never had the ability to write CDs and actually stopped writing floppies some time ago. There is no USB port. It claims to have inadequate memory to e-mail the files over, but in fact there is enough space and won't allow me to increase memory to e-mail (AOL).
Is there any way to transfer/transmit files and documents from the old Performa to my ThinkPad before it's too late?
Thank you!
