Transferring files from a Mac to Win PC takes forever

When I transfer files from my Mac to a Win PC it takes very long - for instance- it says that it needs about 3 hours to transfer a 375Mb file. Is that normal or there is something wrong with my Network? I use Mac OS X and Window$ XP (SP1). They are connected through a Netgear EN104 Hub.

depends what your network speed is. if you can enable both computers to be 54g, it'll fly pretty fast.

another option to speed it up, would be to burn a disc of the data on the mac, and then copy it from the cd to the pc.

not sure how you enable it... but I just realized that actually my Mac is wireless (802.11g) and the PC is connected to a hub. So there should be something wrong with the hub or something... Is there a way to check how fast the HUB is?

This may be another problem. Are the two machines on the same sub-net ? Otherwise all your data transit through your provider !!!

To change that, disconnect your modem and fix the two addresses to two successive locations.

they are on the same subnet, isn't it 255... etc... I think the problem with this is either the hub or the cable or the Ethernet adapter in the PC... any thoughts?
