I have tried this so far, I have root password enabled

[Tony-Wrights-Computer:~] tonywrig% cd ~/.Trash
[Tony-Wrights-Computer:~/.Trash] tonywrig% su merton37 rm -R /Volumes/Panther\ Backup\ OSX/.Trashes/501/\*AntiWordService\ 2.0.1 /Users/tonywright/.Trash/AntiWordService\ 2.0.1 /Volumes/Panther\ Backup\ OSX/.Trashes/501/AntiWordService\ 2.0.1

su: Sorry

as far as I know the permissions are in order although the message from the delete trash action says you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items
My back up SuperDuper will not back up to my other hard drive while these items are in the trash, any help would be appreciated

What OS verion are you running? I've never had a stubborn trash, but I thought that 10.3 Finder would ask you for our admin password if there was a permission problem.

Have you tried sudo?
Have you rebooted? If the system thinks the stubborn file is in-use, a reboot may release it.
