Treo sync problem

I am syncing a 650 with Entourage using Palm Hotsync manager.

on my old powerbook running 10.4, i would sometimes get an error saying i couldn't sync because the serial port is being used by another application (it wasn't). when this happened, i would reset the 650 by poking the reset button with the wand and when it rebooted, all was well.

i now have a macbook with leopard. i got the same error message today after having done a number of successful syncs between my 650 and my new mac. i reset the 650 but the problem remained. i restarted the mac but it still happened. i reset the 650 AND restarted the mac and the problem still exists.

why does the 650 think the serial port is being used by another program (it isn't), how do i stop it from happening again in the future and how do i get my 650 syncing again now?

OMG I am having the exact same problem with my 680 and the PowerBook. I have been using Bluetooth to do the syncing and my 1st step to troubleshoot was to try the USB cable, but I am getting the same error message. In the end I am rebooting the phone and/or disabling bluetooth on the Mac or unplugging the adapter until it works.

I am also using MissingSync which is a huge pile of crap and therefore though that was the problem??

I think in order to get syncing to work smoothly we are just going to have to get iPhones.
