Trying to boost my Quake 4 gameplay

Hello folks, Johnny speaking. I'm currently trying to boost the performance of Quake 4 on my computer which, to my disappoint, runs pretty slow even on lowest graphic setting. This is bad, considering that Doom3 ran with no problem on the same settings and the graphic engine is the same!

I have a MacBook intel with 2GB of RAM and 2GHz of memory, altough the graphic memory is a lame 64 mb, shared with the whole system. It should match the minumum requirements of Quake 4, considering the intel core 2 duo is one beast of a chip....so anyway, any tip to boost the performance?

Remember that just because it means the minimum requirements, that doesn't mean that it will run usably. Even though the Core 2 Duo is a very capable CPU, the fact that the integrated graphics is siphoning memory from main RAM won't help matters. Had your system used discrete graphics (like the MacBook Pro), performance would be much better.

What you might have to do is reduce the graphic resolution as well as disable any graphic effects that might be taxing the MacBook.
