Turning your mac into a virtual server

I work for a small design company that deals with large files been ftped to us, we are looking at setting one of the machines (runnin mac osx 10.2) as the "server" so we can set user names, passwords for each individual client wanting to ftp to us from both web browser or ftp client, so it comes directly onto the machine and is not been stored on a webserver which we currently have doing. Any programs or advice for doing this on a mac would be appreciated.
 
Mac OS X 10.2 includes a built in FTP server. Go to System Preferences --> Sharing, and check the "FTP File Transfer Protocol" option.

You could setup an account on the machine, specifically for FTP, by using the "Accounts" system preferences panel.

Oh, and by-the-way Melvin, please avoid posting the same question to multiple channels on the forum. It just makes things a little hard to keep track of...
