two msql database installs

Is it possible to have two separate installs of mysql on the mac ?
one for hosting sites and another for development sites

I'm aware you can create more databases but what i'm looking to do is to have two separate installations

is this possible ? if so how would we set it up
 
Why would you want to do that? If you use different databases it would not be any different. Am I missing something here?
