Unable to Access Appletalk

Both my OSX and Classic operating systems are unable to access Appletalk.

Which is preventing me from printing to our network printer.

I still have access to the internet, and sharing still works, and other users can still acccess my mac.

'Make Appletalk Active' has been ticked. And has been working fine until this morning.

After much fiddling, and many restarts, I need help.

Is this a bug, Do I need to re-instal, or am I just stupid.

Maybe you've done this, but... in OS X, start the Print Center App. If your printer is listed, delete it. Then, click Add Printer and select "AppleTalk Printers" in the pull-down at the top of the dialog that appears. You should now be able to select your printer to add it to the Print Center list.
If this doesn't work (your appletalk printer didn't show up), turn off or unplug your printer for 15 seconds, then repower and try all again.

Thank you for the input,

I had tried the things you had suggested.

FYI I had a play with the terminal to see if I could run Appletalk from there (see 'The missing Manual') and the terminal reported that the Appletalk stack wasn't loaded.

This actually meant very little to me.

In the end I re-installed OS X and chose the option to keep user and network settings (it also created a previous system folder).

And apart from needing to do a software update so that I had the latest version of OS X I didn't need to do anything else. Everything is now working fine.
