Unable to do the partition for windows..

Hi there,

I am unable to do a partition for windows in my bootcamp? It is saying "The disk cannot be partioned. Try to restore the disk from Disk utilities. But I don't see any partitions in Disk utilities.

How do you see your hard drive in Disk Utility?
Does it have one partition or multiple partitions?
When was it partitioned (or if never, when was the OS installed)?
How much space / empty space is tehre on the disk?

I don't see any partitions.. But part of the hard disk space is in light blue color and the rest is in white..

It says :

" This partition is the startup disk, it cannot be erased.

Size : 158.49 GB
Available space : 69.75 GB "

I think it has the light blue color for the part of 88.74 GB (which is 158.49 GB - 69.75 GB)

But at the bottom of Finder window the available space is 80.19 GB.

I have attached an image of my disk utilities.. Please look at it..

Thanks in advance...

You have to go to applications/utilities/bootcamp assistant to properly setup your bootcamp partition. You can't do it through disk utility.

I've tried it thru bootcamp. But beacuse of some error. It had asked me to restore the disk thru disk utilities.. See the first post of this thread...

Thank u though...

The disk has 1 partition as it shows in Disk Utility.
You can't erase it or partition it with Disk Utility as it's the system disk, but you could see if it reports any errors - in the first tab, select "Repair Disk Permissions" and "Repair Disk". Any errors reported in either?
IF it still fails with Boot Camp after, you could try some cleaning maintenance with OnyX. Just make sure it's for the correct OS version.
If it still fails after that, what is the exact error message?
