Unable to download files from net sites

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm unable to download files from net sites (e.g. download.com, elgato.com etc.). Everytime I click on the file to download, the page just reloads and the download doesn't start. I've attempted downloads in both Safari and IE with no luck. I've also repaired permissions with Disk Utility, still nothing. Hoping someone can help me out.

Have you tried holding down ALT and clicking on the link? In safari, if you hold down ALT and hover over the link, at the bottom it should say "Download http://www.whatever... and so on. It may work.

did you try to copy the download link to the clipboard and use Apple+4 to call the download manager of ie; pick one downloaded item in the list and edit to copy the download link into that and restart the download. Does this work? Another thing you can try: setup a new useraccount and try to download files from those sites. Does it work? Btw, is it the same with www.versiontracker.com?

Using another account does work, I am able to download with the other account, however life as it exists is in my main account which downloads squat! Something in setup or permissions is not allowing downloads,,,,really weird.

Bingo!!!
I downloaded Speed Download from Apple.com. I just removed it and all is well again.
