unable to share pictures from iPhoto to .Mac Homepage

I've been trying to use iPhoto to share my pictures on my homepage but every time I select homepage in Share, it first trys to update themes and then presents a window which states "A connection could not be established at this time. Make sure my network connection is active and try again."
My connection is active ... I am able to download automatic updates on my podcasts in iTunes, and I have no problem opening Safari and my mail. I just don't know what else to check.
What do I need to do?

After years (ok, maybe exagerating) of successful integration of iPhoto and .Mac, the union was severed with my upgrade to iPhoto 5.

Popular fixes revolve around discarding plists, repairing permissions, and/or discarding all languages but English. None of these worked for me personally.

In the end, it was either the o.3 or o.4 upgrade that fixed it for myself.

So, try that first, make sure your OS X is updated to the fullest (10.3.9 for me) and 5.0.4 for iPhoto.
