unique iphone software problem

hey guys,

I currently have a jailbroken iphone firmware 4.1.

I want to update to the latest possible jailbreaking firmware, although it will not let me.

This is the first time i've seen a message saying this :s

When I try to update my iphone on itunes it says "The iphone could not be updated. This device isn't eligible for the requested build."

What does this mean and what can I do?

iTunes is Apple software. Apple does not support jailbroken phones.

Restore the iPhone to the un-jailbroken default, then install the update. (and then jb it again if needed, or wait for iOS 5 to be out, then install & jb if still needed).
