Unusable areas of desktop

I'm having problems position icons on the desktop in OSX10.1.1 and could use some help. (G4-450 384K ram)

There are parts of the desktop, especially near the dock (but also elsewhere on the screen) where icons cannot be placed. They bounce away when placed in these areas. I am using some custom icons but the same thing happens with standard ones as well.

There's your problem - you only have 384k of ram!

Seriously though, move those icons near to where they bounce back, then move then just a tiny bit - bit by bit, till you get 'em where you want 'em.

On other sites I've read reports of icon positioning problems when the dock is placed on the right. We may have to wait for an update from Apple on this.
