My disk wouldnt spin down no more after 10.1.3 update so i did some poking around and with fs_usage i found this process.

update - flush internal filesystem caches to disk frequently

DESCRIPTION
The update command will flush volitile cached filesystem data to disk ev-

killing it made my disk spin down as normal and it hasnt been seen to affect my system negatively. what exactly is "volatile cached filesystem data" anyway?
