Well,
I noticed in the blurb for 10.1.3 that there are undisclosed "CD-RW Driver Updates" including those for Sony drives. And there i was, thinking, YAY! Finally i will be able to burn with iTunes. So much for that. Apple System Profiler actually shows it twice...sort of. it used to show a CD-R on USB from Sony (even though it's connected via FireWire, and now it shows nothing for USB and this for the FireWire bus:
1045-00Vendor ID: 3099Speed: 400 Mb/secGUID: 3185045dVendor name: NewMotion Technology Corp.Unit version: 66691
Toast works fine with firewire, and the Finder even asks me what to do with blank media when i insert them, except, that it only sees a 700mb disk as 666.8 (with 9.something used) and a 650 as 625, with 79 and 74 minutes respectively if "prepared" for an audio cd. what's the big deal? The drive is simply an updated Sony model. surely apple can update their drivers to support it?
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks
QP.
