Upgrading from OS X 10.4.11

I have a Macbook 2.1 (white) laptop. I am currently running OS X 10.4.11. I have 1 GB memory. I plan to upgrade to 2GB memory, and I definitely need to upgrade my operating system. I have two questions about upgrading. First, can I simply get a retail upgrade to Snow Leopard or must I upgrade to Leopard first? Secondly, where can I even get an upgrade to Leopard?

The Snow Leopard upgrade disk will work just fine and bring you from 10.4.xx up to 10.6.
A quick google search found this, as well as many other articles on this very subject.
