I am looking to create a basic newsletter/news page for a site I am working on.

What I want to be able to do it have a list of news items that are uploaded and stored on the server as text files.
I want the newest item to be listed on top, ie most current news and then list down the news items in reverse chronological order. probably to a maximum of ten news items.

Morning wapstar (well, at least where I am).

I may not have an elaborate guide to what you should do, but I can at least mention something similar.

Whilst in Japan, I worked for a company named Interac, who's recruitment and personnel training websites both ran on the Blosxom CMS. It's lightweight (1 perl script!) and pretty easy to install; whether your paying for or self hosting on your Mac (look at your 'Sharing' system preference if the latter is true).

The cool thing about Blosxom is that ALL posts are simple text files (with HTML if you so desire) and there are a wealth of plugins. The "blog" posts (entries, whatever) appear by default in reverse chronological order.

There should be a plugin for automated uploads, but you could happily just use an FTP/SSH application and drop textfile entries into your website (read a bit about Blosxom if I'm not making sterling sense).

If this is kinda what you are looking for and you would like any other pointers (or 'light' help ;)) post a reply after checking out if Blosxoms for you.
