uploading to FTP site from Finder window

I'm using Mac OSX 10.4.3 and want to upload files to a remote hosting space (remote server) using OSX's built-in FTP client.

Once I've connected to the remote server I am able to view the contents of it and copy files to my desktop using a Finder window, but I'm not able to copy files to it. I get an error stating that the directory I'm trying to copy to cannot be modified, which strikes me as odd because I have no problems uploading files to the same directory using Fetch.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
 
'Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?', you are doing nothing wrong - you can only receive via 'Finder's FTP.
 
If the server supports WebDAV you can mount it on your Desktop as a remote disk and treat it like any other.

Finder ftp is read only.
