URGENT - Need to analyze an audio file

I just recorded a funeral talk for someone using an iRiver IFP-799 using a direct line into the mic. I rushed home just now and I downloaded it to my mac and converted it to MP3 and it has recorded nothing just a file that when played is blank. I listened to it as it was being recorded and i know that there was audio coming into the mp3 player to record but even when i listen to it on the mp3 recorder, it doesn't play a sound.

is there a program for mac (or even windows) that will analyze the audio file? its 30 Megabytes large, so there has to be something in there.

Sorry to hear about having to attend a funeral. I don't have a lot of experience with audio on the Mac, but I thought I'd make a few suggestions anyway, due to this being an urgent matter for you. Audacity is a free audio editor for OS X, WireTap Studio is a shareware audio recorder/editor, and Audio Hijack Pro lets you play with audio input from various devices. Hopefully one of those might be able to offer some help...

I'm a bit concerned that you hear no audio on the MP3 player itself. Perhaps the sound is only very quiet and needs amplification? I suppose you'll find out when you try an audio editor and look at the waveform. Good luck!
