do usb flash memory plugs work between mac and PC????

can i save something created on a mac (say through office) to the usb flash memory ...unplug it ...and then plug it into a PC and read edit it ...and vice versa (ie save a document on a pc to the usb flash memory thing unplug it and then plug it into the usb of a mac and open and edit the saved thingy?)

That depends on how you formatted it. I have memory sticks from Sony's camera that are formatted on the camera, then I can switch that same stick between the two platforms and both machines will read it.
When you first format it, use the windows machine for the first use. Then you will be able to switch it back and forth. If when you first used it, there was no need to format it (I am not sure if they are when new), then it should work.

Just remember that the document you are saving can be read by both machines. A .jpg image will have no problem, but a word processor file may have trouble. Make sure you can save it to the other platform's application.
DataViz makes programs for either platform to make the conversion/translation smooth. Conversion Pro for Windows or MacLinkPlus Deluxe for the Mac.

im not talking about a soney memory stick ...like u put in cameras...

i mean these thingies that plug into the usb port

Yes, I live on a Mac and forced to work on a PC. I daily plug a CompactFlash card into both machines and transfer documents, presentations, and spreadsheets. No problems whatsoever and no special formatting required.

What Cheryl said STILL applies.

Both MacOS and Windows have drivers to mount USB storage devices. The trick is to format it with a filesystem that both OSes can read/write to.

Chances are that USB storage device is formated with FAT32 which MacOS can also read/write to.
