USB for G3 laptop

does the laptop have a pcmcia slot? Otherwise: I don't think so. I know there are parallel-usb adaptors, but I believe they are for usb-plugs to provide parallel connectivity.

Well, you are talking about a G3 Powerbook, which since you don't already have USB, that is the Wallstreet or Kanga. Both of these will accept PCMCIA cards that provide USB like those sold at Other World Computing.

Found the site: ordered the card

Are there differences in the cards which will effect use?
For example I switched from my Belkin USB card to an unknown mfg card which is USB 2.0. My printer and mouse both work fine. but my new Dazzle Hi-speed USB Compact flash reader only is recognized working with the older Belkin card. **(How can I tell if my USB2.0 is working at 2.0) I am afraid I won't be able to use an Ipod without a 2.0 card.
